Most people don't realise they're losing 2–4% every time they send money abroad. Not in fees — in the exchange rate.
When I first started moving money between the UK and Spain, I assumed comparing providers would be straightforward. It wasn't. Fees looked low, but the exchange rate was quietly worse than expected. Some comparison sites ranked providers without explaining why. And most guides didn't actually tell you how much money you'd receive on the other end.
That's why FXPathway exists.
I'm a UK expat living in Barcelona, working as a software engineer with experience in fintech systems, and regularly moving money between GBP and EUR. FXPathway is built and maintained by me, with support on outreach and growth. After repeatedly seeing how unclear and misleading transfer costs were — especially the hidden exchange rate margins — I built FXPathway to break this down properly.
This is the resource I wished existed when I started. No fluff, no vague rankings — just a clear explanation of what you'll actually receive and why.
This is an independent project — not backed by any transfer provider, bank, or financial institution. Every comparison and guide on this site is based on how much you actually receive in euros — not just advertised fees.
FXPathway content is based on a combination of real-world usage, provider pricing analysis, and publicly available data. Transfer costs are reviewed by comparing both visible fees and exchange rate margins at the time of writing.
Rates and fees change frequently, so we focus on typical ranges and clearly explain what affects the final amount received.

✓ An independent comparison resource
✓ Focused on real costs — not just fees
✓ Built for people actually moving money between the UK and Spain
✓ Transparent about affiliate relationships
✓ Designed to be a practical tool, not just another finance blog
✗ A financial adviser
✗ A sponsored ranking site
✗ A generic "top 10" finance blog
✗ A provider of live exchange rates
✗ Affiliated with any bank or transfer company
Most comparison sites focus on fees. FXPathway focuses on one number: how many euros you actually receive.
That means factoring in both the visible fee and the exchange rate margin — at the same time, on the same amount. Because a provider with a low fee but a poor rate can be more expensive than one that shows the full cost upfront.

Right now FXPathway focuses on GBP → EUR transfers, especially the UK → Spain corridor. Over time the plan is to expand this into more routes, better tools, and clearer comparisons — so you can make decisions faster without having to dig through multiple sources.
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up with a provider after clicking, FXPathway may receive a commission. This doesn't change how providers are analysed or compared — the same methodology applies regardless of any partnership.
